The Ink Spots. This vocal quartet, founded in 1934, developed their own style around 1939 which made them very popular in the 1940s and 1950s. A style where lead tenor Bill Kenny and ‘talking bass’ Orville Jones played a distinctive role in a repertoire of mainly ballads. Furthermore recordings from their early period when they mainly sang swing songs.
