Singer and pianist Carmen McRae (1922-1994) first worked as a secretary and performed as night. Her breakthrough came when she moved to Chicago. Later she would return to New York, where she recorded several albums. She loved performing with her own trio on various festivals. Today, recordings of a concert during the Montreux festival in 1982.
