Singer Ruth Brown (1928 – 2006) is mostly known as a an R&B and soul music singer. To everyone’s surprise she recorded an album with songs from the Great American
Songbook in 1959, in which she was accompanied by an excellent studio orchestra.
That album: “Late Date with Ruth Brown”, is the main focus of this episode. It was to be the only album she made in that genre.
