A Norwegian solo singer, actress, musician, director, and playwright, she is best known for her interpretations and productions of Yiddish folk music and plays. Since 2002, she has lived and worked in Poland. She trained in the performing arts in Tel Aviv and New York. Bente Kahan sings primarily in Yiddish, but has also recorded and performed in Ladino, Hebrew, and a blend of Yiddish and Polish, Russian, Norwegian, Hungarian, German, and English.

Kol Oud Tof Trio. (21:57 min)
The trio is an Israeli musical group specializing in Middle Eastern music. Their name means “Voice, Oud, Drum” in Hebrew, referring to the musical instruments on which their music is based. The members are Esti Kenan-Ofri, an Italian-born soprano; Armand Sabach, a renowned oud player specializing in Arabic music; and percussionist Oren Fried. Their music combines Jewish religious poetry in Hebrew, baqqashot, and traditional Sephardic songs in Haketia and Arabic.

Tzigayner neshume is Yoni Eilat’s debut album: Yiddish versions of Gypsy folk music, blended with rock-pop music and interwoven with elements of traditional Eastern European music. More than ten talented Israeli musicians collaborated with him on the album’s production. The album contains eleven tracks and was arranged and produced by Daniel Koren, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, an independent conservatory in Boston, USA.
