Today with the band SHIR and their album Ashk’Farad : Klezmer and Ladino.
Shir (based in London) is an energetic traditional Klezmer band with beautiful, melodic and lyrical Ladino and music from both sides of the Jewish tradition, from Vilna in Poland to Saloniki (present-day Thessaloniki) in Greece, to Afula in Israel, where the two habits become one.
A literal English translation of the Hebrew word Shir is song, and songs are exactly what Shir is all about! Musically, the band is very versatile, capable of playing traditional Jewish music in a variety of genres, including Klezmer, Israeli, Yiddish, Sephardic, Mizrahi, Ladino, and Simcha music.
Shir has established itself as a firm favorite with London’s Jewish community, building a reputation as one of the top Jewish party bands in the country, playing at weddings, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs and simchas all over London and the UK.
