The OT AZOJ Klezmerband: Klezmer For Kishinev.

The Amsterdam-based Klezmerband OT AZOJ was founded in 1994. The band has developed its own style and sound over the years: audiences often feel overwhelmed by the varied, energetic performance of the band, which only plays on akoeKlezmer For Kishinevstic instruments plays. The starting point for the CD is Kishinev, the capital of Moldavia, also known as Chisinau, where around 1900 43 percent of the population was of Jewish descent. The city used to be a meeting place for Klezmer musicians from all over the world. The mostly unknown songs on the record are the result of source research by band members Joris van Beek and Karin Kranenborg, who travel to Eastern Europe for this. In addition to Jan Rademaker, the CD also features Wim Ruis on accordion.
