A mixture of Mediterranean music with jazz, folk and subtle electronics. Paris-born Dafné Krithara has a Greek father and French mother. She became particularly interested in rembetiko and Judeo-Spanish songs. In Greece there was a large Ladino community, descendants of Spanish-speaking Jews who were expelled from Spain in 1492. However, she does not limit herself only to Greek music. Dafné sings effortlessly in Greek, Judeo-Spanish, French, Serbian-Croatian, Spanish or Turkish.

Variety artist Jossy Halland, the daughter of a Polish opera singer and operetta diva, received her artistic training at the Jewish Theater in Warsaw. In LiLaLo she performed as a chansonnière and cabaret artist. Before LiLaLo opened, Jacques Halland was a jazz pianist and performed with the French Fernandel and Edith Piaf, among others. Admission to the cabaret was free, but guests were expected to have a drink. LiLaLo’s guests included Pablo Picasso, Roberto Rossellini, Federico Fellini.
