Music by Mikail Aslan, Arabanda, Goran Bregovic.
Kurdish musician Mikail Aslan grew up in Germany where he studied classic guitar at the conservatory. On the CD ‘The key of the mountain’, he sings about a forgotten resistance in the late 30s in Dersim, where he was born, during which ten thousands of Kurdish and Armenian resisters were killed.
Raw desert blues, coming from the great CD box Sahrauis. The songs come from one of the three CDs, named Polisario vencera, or "Polisario shall win".
Around 2006, Arabanda was a project from Brussels with songs from the Arabo-Andalusic tradition. With Moroccan singer Laïla Amezian and accordion player Piet Maris.
Balkan-gipsy of Goran Bregovic, who had his breakthrough in the west with film music for the well-received Underground by Emir Kusturica. Just like on this CD, the Karmen CD also contains a lot of festive music with many wind instruments and fast rhythms.
