World Minerals – Nur immer vorwärts! Songs by the Junge Pioniere from the DDR.
Music from behind the Iron Curtain with songs by the Junge Pioniere, a youth movement from former East Germany, in which pretty much all children took part.
In the DDR – the former communistic German satellite state of the former Soviet Union – the Jungpioniere were prepared for society by means of all sorts of joint activities. In this youth movement there was a lot of attention for activities such as sports, marching and tinkering. An important activity was singing songs in which joint responsibilities, tasks and society standards were constantly emphasized. "Immer bereit" was one of the Junge Pioniere’s mottos, and that is exactly what they sound like.
‘Nur immer vorwärts’, the young pioneers return to life a special piece of music history during the coming hour. Clad in uniform, with a beaming expression, an intent gaze and a cheerful mood, the Junge Pioniere of the DDR profess once more the child’s soul’s unspoiled belief in a socialistic utopia with a future as bright as the sun. That utopia is in the distant past now, but we can still listen to the pioneer songs as the sweet remains of sound from a written off political ideology of a state from the second half of the twentieth century.
