Minyeshu is an Ethiopian singer who just released her well received fourth album Daa Dee. She started singing and dancing at a young age and with 17 she joined the National Theatre of Ethiopia. There she met musical celebrities like Mulatu Astatke and singers Mahmoud Ahmed and Tilahun Gessesse. She resides in Europe since 1996, first in Belgium and now in the Netherlands.
Stella Chiweshe is one of the first women in Zimbabwe who plays the mbira dzavadzimu, the thumb pianode duimpiano. The mbira is a traditional instrument of the Shona people of Zimbabwe.
She released a new compilation CD: Kasahwa: Early singles.
José Carlos II, singer, guitarist, composer, arranger sent his CD Brazil/Cuba/DK to us with the request to play a few of songs of this album.
The CD has been recorded with the Bambamoleque band and four guest musicians and contains many different styles and rhythms like Salsasamba, Funksalsa, Afrotek, Reggae etc.
Lura was born in Lisbon, but her roots lie in Cape Verde. Her father came from the island Santiago, her mother from São Antão. They emigrated to Portugal and Lura grew up in a large Cape Verdian community in Lisbon. This EP, titled Alguem di Alguem contains a few magnificent songs, two of which are her own.
