Muzikale straling tot middernacht… • Peter van Cooten, bekend als onze Concertzender collega van het programma DreamScenes, en van zijn eigen Ambientblog, maakte exclusief voor X-Ray een speciale nieuwjaarsmix onder de titel Delusional. Peter van Cooten: • "Ik begon aan deze mix met 'Wonderlust' als werktitel. Omdat ik dat een mooi woord vind: een variatie op Wanderlust ('verlangen te reizen'), wat ook wel wordt gelezen als 'het verlangen naar voortdurende verwondering'. Maar naarmate de mix vorderde bleek de titel minder passend. Teveel donkere en wat onrustbarende momenten – die mogelijk wel een staat van verwondering op zullen roepen maar dan wel van een ander soort. Anja Garbarek's Questions gaf richting aan de mix: een paar eenvoudige vragen om ernstige psychotische stoornissen en waanvoorstellingen te diagnosticeren. De mix bevat een aantal van deze hallucinatoire momenten, maar gelukkig worden die afgewisseld met plezieriger ervaringen, in een bijna melodramatische balans. Voor mij persoonlijk heeft een mix de meeste impact als het voelt alsof ik naar een film kijk. Met ups, downs, drama, sentiment, plezier, climax en anticlimax. Spanning én ont-spanning. (Mogelijk verklaart dat ook het relatief grote aantal fragmenten uit verschillende filmsoundtracks). Als 'Delusional' een filmsoundtrack zou zijn, dan was de Jon Hopkins track de laatste scene, en het Metropool Orkest arrangement van Brian Eno's 'An Ending' de track onder de aftiteling.
