While on holiday in the west of England in the last week of July, I gained access to a pipe organ in a former Methodist chapel. The feeling of airiness in this high-ceilinged space after months of lockdown in a small London flat was uplifting. It was enhanced by the sound of air rushing through the pipes of the instrument. I set up mics close to the organ and high up at the back of the room, and made some recordings. Recorded 29 and 31 July, 2020. Assembled 2-9 August 2020. Image: Ben Drury. Released August 10, 2020. 4. Denis Sorokin – Kupchino. (solo for Jon) • Denis Sorokin – retuned electric guitar, mandolin with e-bow, radio. Recorded in one take without overdubs in 30 July 2020 at Kupchino, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Mastered by Sergei Tumanov at NCTMMRN studio, Melbourne, Australia. Artwork by Denis Sorokin. sorokinguitar.blogspot.com • denissorokin.bandcamp.com • Released August 1, 2020. 5. Martin Kay – Bath Time (2nd Edit) – 01 PT. 1. Recorded and produced July 12th-23rd, 2020 in Melbourne. Bath Time (2nd Edit) is a four-part composition that considers my daughter's and my own nightly/weekly bathing routines through the composed and shifting acoustic perspectives of the open air space above our bathtub, the inside chamber of a large vase situated in the corner of our bathroom, and the material vibrations of our ceramic bathroom wall, acrylic bathtub shell and the water contained water within.
