Thursday April 14th 2016 Pletterij Debat en Cultuur in Haarlem organised its famous impro-sessions. The nights surrounding the theme improvisation are composed by a guest-musician that invites other known or unknown to them musicians and artists. Also he or she creates the concept of the evening. I, as your radioproducer, had the honour to compose the evening and asked the following artists to collaborate to something that became a quite magical event. What seemed to connect me to the artists, and them to each other, seemed to be their life-long experience with diverse sound-cultures and musicial and poetic travel and immigration. Which logically, became the theme of that evening. You can hear in two parts: • Armeno Alberts • Composer, radioproducer: Cafe Sonore (vpro/concertzender) – Gamelan • Ji Youn Kang • composer and soundartist, – DIY Synthesizers • Fred Gales • Anthopologist, Ethnomusicologist, Radioproducer: De Klankbron (concertzender), De Wandelende Tak (vpro) – Recordings. Annette Kouwenhoven • Actrice, Toneelgroep maatschappij discordia – Spoken Word • Mei-yi Lee • Percussionist and performer, Sonolab – Percussion • —— • Opname – Rob Brakel • Audiomix – Tommy de Bruin • Realisation – Pletterij Debat en Cultuur • I.s.m. Joost Verhagen, Haarlemse Popscene
