Traditional classical music from Iran : Maliheh Moradi & Ehsan Matoori + Mohammad Motamedi & Rembrandt Trio.

1- Maliheh Moradi & Ehsan Matoori.
Since the Iranian revolution of 1979, Iranian women are no longer allowed to sing solo in public. Singer Maliheh Moradi and Iranian composer Ehsan Matoori together capture the struggles you experience as a female musician born in Iran. Inspired by the personal memoirs of Maliheh’s life, Ehsan transforms the multitude of emotions into captivating traditional Iranian compositions, controversially highlighting the beauty of Maliheh’s voice.

2- Mohammad Motamedi en het Rembrandt Trio.
On the album Intizar we find both traditional poems (by, among others, the 13th century philosopher Rumi) and modern repertoire. The opening piece, Intizar, has a deeply moving intro, with a clear Armenian signature. Many pieces were composed by the members of the Rembrandt trio, in collaboration with Mohammad Motamedi. Motamedi’s smooth voice is fluid like water, with great emotional expressiveness. This is clearly audible in the song Kouze Gar, where his vocals are taken over by strings & clarinet in the final part, sprinkled with piano twinkles.
CD. Intizar : Songs of longing – Mohammad Motamedi & Rembrandt Trio.
Tracks: 1 – 4 – 6.
LABEL: Just Listen Records (2023), code: JL031. Video
