Aurélia passes the border.
When Ambrozijn ̶ one of the first quartets of the Flemish Folk movement ̶ officially ended, the singer and guitarist Tom Theuns formed together with his girlfriend violinist Aurélie Dorzée and percsussionist Stephan Pougin the trio Aurélia. Their adventurous and playful music is hard to define in words, but it goes from squishy Tom Waits-like to light-footed precision work to de square centimetre. The trio prefers a mythological or fairy-tale setting, like a mysterious ship’s log or the ancient story of the Creation, than everyday reality. It’s fierce sometimes, but never without a wink. Saturday 15 November, Aurélia is to be admired during the Crossing Border in Den Haag, the Netherlands.
