The Nawras Altaky Trio consists of Nawras Altaky (ud & vocals), Oene van Geel (violin), and Marianne Noordink (flute & ney). Together they create a rich, groundbreaking soundscape that blends Arabic maqam, improvisation, jazz, chamber music, and world music.
Nawras Altaky is a Syrian-Dutch composer and singer, appointed City Composer of Utrecht in 2025. He composes for theater, film, and dance and has performed at festivals such as North Sea Jazz and November Music.
Oene van Geel, winner of the Boy Edgar Prize, moves as a violinist between jazz, world music, and improvisation.
Marianne Noordink has immersed herself in the Arabic and Turkish ney traditions and regularly collaborates with the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra.
Their music connects tradition with innovation and allows room for emotion, improvisation, and dialogue.
