Ramadan Special (1447h-2026). Songs and Religious Vocal Art.
Ramadan (Ramadhan) is the Islamic holy month (when it is believed that the first Quranic revelation was received).It is a month of spirituality, fasting, community, and festivities. In this year’s special episode (1447 in the Islamic Hijri calendar), we will listen to classic “seasonal” songs welcoming the month. We will also revisit the Arab Middle Eastern tradition of religious chant, which—just like the recitation of the Quran—is a vocal art that receives special attention during this month.
