Tuesday 4th October 2016 from 19.00-20.00 presenter Thijs Bonger in
episode XXII of the series ‘ A Second chance for Hummel’ takes you to Weimar,
where Hummel enjoyed working for the court. During his contractually obliged 3 month vacation he played concerts in Berlin, where he premiered a revolutionary and virtuoso piano concerto. It was a huge success. Also with the Mendelssohn family, who Hummel visited. There he heard the immensely talented 12 year old son Felix play the piano and a self-composed small opera. In Weimar Hummel became good friends with Goethe and often played for him at home, mainly in the presence of important guests.
