On Tuesday 7th June between 19.00 and 20.00 compiler and presenter Thijs Bonger continues his series about Johann Nepomuk Hummel. After 1815
there follows an extremely successful period in Hummel’s life, who lived from 1778 to 1837. He receives ovations during his European concert tours. In 1816 he writes a virtuosic septet. Immediately it’s the hot topic in Vienna ” Have you heard it ? Sensational!’ Then this piece is heard in other countries and remains for many years a top classical hit. Hummel also made a quintet transcription which serves as the model for Schubert’s Trout Quintet. He wanted to exploit the success.
