Het Anker, Lelystad:
Dangerous Women
No broadcast date has been set for this concert.
It’s obvious that for seduction you need two people. Still it seems that on stage it’s the women who attract the attention and seduce men in large numbers
In the 19th century this was called: “Femme fatale”, but before then such women could also be found in baroque operas. For instance Händel’s Alcina or Armida from “Rinaldo”, both bewitchers who would go to any lengths to conquer their lovers. You didn’t even need to always use magic to get success; often whispers with an accompanying melody…
Siri Karoline Thornhill knows how to hit the right note. The Apollo Ensemble and the Norwegian soprano have already performed together at the Kennedy Center Washington DC, the Sydney Festival and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
The Apollo Ensemble is like a chameleon. Sometimes a baroque orchestra, then equally a duo, trio or septet. But whatever form the ensemble takes, these musicians are always driven by a common passion. They’re gripped by the miracle that ancient music can always sound new. And what better than to share this fascination with the public? Welcome to the Apollo Ensemble!
