From Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Chopin Foundation Netherlands is organizing its seventh festival at the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam.
Highlights of this edition include performances by pianist Anna Fedorova and German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser, who will perform Chopin’s rarely performed cello sonata together with pianist Clara Biermasz. The festival’s subtitle this year is ‘Chopin in Amsterdam, a city on Polish piles’. With this, the organizers emphasize the international exchange between Amsterdam and Gdansk. A large proportion of the buildings within the canal belt, where the Amstelkerk is also located, were built on wooden piles from Poland. That wood was transported to Amsterdam via the Hanseatic Route. Conversely, some of the houses along the canals in Gdańsk were built with bricks from the Netherlands.
True to tradition, there is once again plenty of room for young talent this year. In the opening acts of the concerts, you will be able to hear prize winners from national and international piano competitions, entirely in line with the objectives of the Chopin Foundation Netherlands.
You can find more information about the festival on the website of the Chopin Stichting.
