Bach ad Infinitum has become a very popular programme on the Concertzender. This time in Contemporary Music we’re going to turn Johann Sebastian Bach upside down with the cd Überbach by the German composer Arash Saffiaan. It’s an ode to the infinity of music. ‘What Newton meant for the interpretation of the world, was Bach for music, just as universal as gravity’. ‘That’s why’, says Safaian,’ I decided to compose about Bach’s music’. The five concertos are ïnspirered by a number of Bach works. We can hear Bach, without Bach being played. It’s a musical game with notes and keys. The composer puts the notes together: just as you think it’s getting a bit kitschy, the music gets back on the right track.
