DiscCover on Friday 13 February 19:00 CET pays tribute to an underrated Dutch classic: Onze Jongens, the 1986 debut album by the band Overstekend Wild.
The band Overstekend Wild consisted of Frans Smulders, Rens van der Zalm and Marten Scheffer, all former members of the acclaimed Wolverlei, one of the most influential Dutch folk groups of all time.
With Overstekend Wild, they forged a new path by opting for original work instead of adaptations of traditional songs. Smulders’ lyrics are central, effortlessly combining humor with serious social themes and personal reflections. Musically, the album is a rich, acoustic mix of folk, pop, classical and chanson.
