Fats Domino dies at 89

Fats Domino, the rock- and blues legend who had a huge hit with Blueberry Hill, has passed away at the age of 89. As well as Blueberry Hill Domino was also famous for his hit singles Ain’t That a Shame and I’m Walkin’.


Domino’s music was seen as the starting point of the rock ‘n roll in the fifties. The singer was well-known for his boogie-woogie piano style and inspired many artists. John Lennon said once that Domino’s nummer Ain’t That A Shame was the first song he ever learnt to play.

Fats Domino, born Antoine Dominique Domino, sold millions of records. Only Elvis Presley sold more in the USA. He acquired his nickname ‘Fats’ early in his career. Domino was 1,65 tall and weighed 100 kilos.
