On Friday 30th January at 20:00 the compiler of our series Bach Ad Infinitum presents his new book about the St. John Passion in the Centrale Bibliotheek in Utrecht.
Govert Jan Bach guides us through the wonderful arias from the St John Passion, the intensity of the chorales and the depth of the dialogues betwen Jesus and Pilate. It is exciting music with the appeal of a court drama as well as a comforting Passion with a healing effect on the listener.
in the same way as in his first audiobook about the St Matthew Passion, Govert Jan Bach provides us with the key to a better understanding of the piece, illustrated by numerous excerpts from many different performances.
The presentation will end with a premiere. Noortje Braat sings an aria from the St John Passion accompanied by Egon Kracht on a double bass.
