Hawaiian Music by Lani McIntire – ” By Radio “

wed 2 dec 2015
Theme: World Music

In Exitos Musicales Friday evening 4th December at 22:00 programme maker Henk Braaksma will be playing old recordings by the Hawaiian Lani McIntire, the younger brother of the legendary Dick McIntire.

Lani McIntire was primarily an orchestra leader and singer. Many of his records are much sought after and occasionally found. But he made more radio broadcasts. Before tape recorders were invented, we're talking about the years 30, 40 and 50's, these were recorded on 16” discs at 33rpm for a programme of ± 12 à 13 minutes . These were then distributed to radio stations all over America.

Record restorer Harry Koster has made these available to the Concertzender. This evening you can hear the results.
