‘Genius Music Friends’ is a series by Thijs Bonger in which he traces the contacts between Haydn and Mozart. The programme on Tuesday 7 April at 20:00 CET follows a new path that leads him to Haydn’s lieder.
Listening to this music brings one surprise after another. It is beautiful music that is very rarely heard. The programme begins with two English arrangements of his instrumental music. This is followed by lieder that were written while he was in England. These songs used the sorrowful texts written by his good friend Anne Hunter (see portret) that were very fashionable at that time.
