Wednesday December 21 in Electronic Frequencies attention for the artist Huub de Bode.
On 8 December 2019 Dutch artist Huub de Bode died shortly after a serious cerebral hemorrhage. In addition to being a visual artist, Huub was active as a musician, sound artist, organizer and bon vivant. The latter did not always go smoothly for him, as his nature showed an ever-rebellious character out of dissatisfaction with political and social issues.
Fortunately, he always found energy to translate his frustration into creative excesses. For example, with a small but energetic team he was the organizer of the Heerlen ‘Smederij Festival’, where sound art and experimental music found a platform. He was also active, whether solo or not, in all kinds of projects. Huub made experimental electronic Krautrock with friend Frans Roovers, formed an experimental duo with the German Claus van Bebber for a few years and made music together with Frans again, Khe Siang Loo and Roger Kengen in the Labodelectre project, which involved experimenting in many directions.
