The Caribbean has recently been in the news because of the devastating storms Irma and Maria. Coincidentally, around that time, the Concertzender just had the first record of a new program about music from that area: Carib Calling. The hostesses and the ‘Special Guest’ take the listener along the musical gems of the Caribbean.
In Carib Calling you can listen to music from Suriname, the Caribbean and South America. The presentation of the series is in the hands of Noraly Beyer, editor and presenter of the NOS Journaal from 1985 to 2008, assisted by Lydia Emanuels, from 1956 to 1985 program maker and radio woman in Suriname, with the SRS (Stichting Radio Suriname) and in the Netherlands at the World Service.
