Piano fireworks from Vicky Chow
Vicky Chow gave an exclusieve solo recital at De Link in Tilburg on 3 December in which she played exclusively works by American composers. The concert was recorded by the Concertzender/Kees van de Wiel and will be broadcast on 20 January at 20:00 CET,
New York is the place for pianists who are not afraid of the most challenging contemporary repertoire. The American piano pioniers of the 20th century such as David Tudor, Yvar Mikhashoff and Margaret Leng Tan and they are being followed by a new generation that includes Conrad Tao and Vicky Chow.
Chow has been a member of the Bang on a Can collective for some time and the concert included works by the three central Bang on a Can composers, Beach (1997) by David Lang, Compassion (2001) by Julia Wolfe and Sonatra (2004) by Michael Gordon. The concert also included two recent works for prepared piano, Mammal (2016) by Fjóla Evans and Vick(i/y) by Andy Akiho and Gustave Le Gray (2014) by Caroline Shaw,
De Link brought Vicky Chow from New York for this exclusive concert and on January 7 they are presenting a performance of David Lang’s vocal work Love Fail. Their plans for 2020 also include concerts by the ensembles Oerknal, Musikfabrik and Spectra. For more information visit www.delink.nl
