Ars Acustica’s monthly radio platform, ranging from experimental impro to acousmatics and from sound and art to composed contemporary music. Special festivals and self recorded performances are also regularly paid attention to.
The British ensemble for contemporary music Icebreaker is almost the equal of Hoketus, the ensemble which was founded in 1976 by Louis Andriessen. The set of instruments containing panpipes, saxophones, violin, cello, guitar, percussion, drums, accordion, keyboards and electronics, creates a totally original sound. Many composers love to write music for this exceptional ensemble.
In 2009 they performed the legendary composition Apollo Atmospheres & Soundtracks by Brian Eno in an arrangement by the South Korean composer Woojun Lee. That is the recording we are playing in this broadcast.
