Classical Matters

sun 1 jul 2018 09:00 hour

A selection of the CD releases discussed in the Klassieke Zaken (Classical Matters) magazine.

Two composers discussed in this episode. A Bach from Berlin and a Bach competitor: Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Christoph Graupner. One day Graupner with Telemann and Sebastian Bach were in the race to become director of the Thomaskantor in Leipzig. Graupner’s vocal work is making a come-back. Then there is the cello of Jean- Guihen made by Gioffredo Cappa in 1696. Here we hear one of the three cello concerts by Bach’s second son Carl Philipp Emanuel.
