Sun-Mi Hong
In this episode of JazzNotJazz, We have the music of Amsterdam based South Korean drummer Sun-Mi Hong. After living in the Netherlands for over 7 years, Sun-Mi has found her place in the Dutch Jazz scene after winning the ‘Dutch Jazz Competition’ in 2018 and also the 2nd prize at Getxo Jazz Competition in 2017. People who’ve seen Sun-Mi play know that Sun-Mi is a fantastic musician and approaches her instrument in a very spiritual manner. Her music balances between Jazz and Impressionism and is inspired by South Korean traditions which mark dramatic and emotional variations.
