Off the Beaten Track(s)

Orchestra de Volharding was a modern ensemble, which primarily consisted of wind players and was founded by composer Louis Andriessen in 1972. The repertoire mainly consisted of original compositions, but also of arrangements from modern composers. In this hour we will be hearing: Darius Milhaud, Igor Stravinsky, Willem van Manen and Misha Mengelberg with pieces related to jazz. These recordings were made in 1981 and 1992, partly ‘live’.
