In his long career, Reinbert built strong bonds with internationally renowned composers. We already saw his close connection to legends like Olivier Messiaen, Mauricio Kagel, Galina Oestvolskaja, Sofia Goebaidoelina and Louis Andriessen.
Today we focus our attention to Hungarian composer György Ligeti, whose music he already programmed in the seventies his series ‘Rondom’. Later, Reinbert would become his favourite conductor. Ligeti was a guest at an elaborate composers’ project at the Royal Conservatoire at The Hague and was recorded by Reinbert de Leeuw and Cherry Duyns for their television series Toonmeesters.
