Series about and with Catalan gambist and conductor Jordi Savall. Today, we focus on the double CD ‘Diáspora Sefardí’.
In 1999, AliaVox released a double CD titled ‘Diáspora Sefardí’. On this CD, Jordi Savall gathered vocal and instrumental music belonging to the tradition of the Sephardic Jews round the Mediterranean Sea. Driven away from Spain, and spreading over Europe and North Africa, they preserved much of their language and culture for a long time.
Here in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam to be exact, we still have a Portuguese synagogue, and we come across their family names.
