Singer Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1997) started her career with the big band of drummer Chick Webb. She became bandleader after he passed away. She became world famous for her songbooks which were accompanied by grand studio orchestras led by Nelson Riddle and others. In between these two large events she recorded a lot of music with the impassioned big band of Sy Oliver. Unfortunately this music didn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves. It is today that we have a special selection of that particular music for you.
