Betty Carter and Ray Bryant’s trio (‘Gone with the wind’), Art Tatum soloing in ‘Stormy Weather’ and from the colonial history of our southern neighbors, Fonseca delivers a thrilling performance with a recording about dancing ‘sans chemise et sans pantalon’.
An unknown gem by the Gershwin brothers (‘Let ‘em eat cake’) by Emil Coleman’s Riviera Orchestra. Equally thrilling is Emilio Caceres and his Hot Club orchestra (‘Alla en Rancho Grando’). Another gem: Frans Halsema (‘Sandra’).
Some extra attention for Jane Morgan, who recently turned a 100 years old, ‘the American girl from Paris’.
