The concert begins withTartini's virtuoso Devil's Trill Sonata. This is followed by Brahms' melancholy but dynamic Third sonata.
The programme after the intermission begins more gently with three gems from Debussy. Next, Lisa Jacobs takes the audience to the Wiener Café with music from Fritz Kreisler. Rachmaninoff's lyrical Vocalise follows and the evening ends with another virtuoso piece: the unforgettable melodies from Bizet's Carmen, in an arrangement for violin and piano by Franz Waxman from the 1940s.
