The House Carpenter’s Daughter by Nathalie Merchant in Disc-Cover

fri 13 mar 2015

Friday evening 13th March from 20:00 – 21:00 Nathalie Merchant will be in the spotlight with her album "The House Carpenter's Daughter".

Maybe The House Carpenter’s Daughter isn't the best album from the American singer, but it plays a crucial role in her career, after this album, wherein she went deep into  American and Anglo-Saxon folkmusic, was the stimulus for her double album Leave Your Sleep, a real masterpiece. Throughout she was accompanied by a number of folk and roots musicians. And yet… as a production The House Carpenter’s Daughter is a sublime album, in which the woodfire crackles, you can smell the countryside, the hardships, the pain and gain of the people. A true masterpiece indeed, which everyone should own.
