Von Otter sings Shakespeare

No broadcast date yet planned for this concert.

The recitals by the famous Swedish mezzo soprano Anne Sofia van Otter are always special. With her regular pianist Bengt Forsberg she’s always exploring lovely, unknown repertoire. This time it’s Jean Sibelius and Erich Korngold who benefit from her extraordinary performance. She also includes the unconventional Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto for instrumental miniatures by Tor Aulin. Kuusisto also plays a number of violin miniatures by Sibelius,  a real treat

Anne Sofie von Otter can deservedly call herself the grande dame of song. She made her name in the international opera world, but her great love for poetry means the song recital has always had a place in her life. Now that she rarely performs in operas it’s song recitals which bring her annually to international podia. Her choice of repertoire is always individual,  top quality and made from the heart. That’s what makes her recitals – she has often performed in the Muziekgebouw – always special.
