The French-Greek composer Iannis Xenakis died 16 years ago on February 4 2001. It is not an official jubilee year and his music has been out of fashion in recent decades. His place in music history is becoming ever smaller.
This undoubtedly has to do with the cerebral mathematical models that are behind his music. However it is not justified, his music speaks to our imagination despite its radicality.
In Contemporary Music on Friday 3 February at 17:00 CET fyou can listen to 3 works by Xenakis.
