#552: Report #4: “Nuestro amor es el eco despedazado de un templo en construccion”
This is the fourth episode in a series of audio reports by Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta from the transhumance.
This episode begins with the sounds of a public radio station echoing in a Buddhist temple under construction. Passion fades in the calm of this reverberation. The body is wrapped in the same precious cloth and music with which the locals wrap the gods. The music and the noise announce the presence of divinity. They are divinity itself. They clothe the spirit with the nakedness of everyday silence.
Field recordings for this fourth report were made in Kathmandu in September 2024, during preparations for the “Indra Jatra” celebration and its aftermath. All sounds are live, single-take recordings, with no effects or overdubs; just minor cross-fades, equalization, mastering, and an intensive process of exposure to live acoustic experiences during the recordings and their subsequent selection. Recorded and mixed by Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta. The whole thing was mixed in Nizhny Novgorod and Kailingrad, Russia, June 2025.
