Bach ad Infinitum during the week from Monday 16 to Friday 20 Augustus looks at the Early Music Festival 2021 that starts on 27 August. The theme of the festival is ‘Music speaks… Let’s Talk!’ and it includes plenty of Bach’s music. Bach ad Infinitum features this music as well as related music by Bach and other composers.
Monday provides an overview of the festival and is an introduction to the programmes during the rest of the week.
The other programmes feature the Kaffeekantate (Bach’s mini-opera) and other music by the musicians that will be perfoming it during the festival, the cantata cycle ‘Membra Jesu nostri’ by Dieterich Buxtehude (which can be heard during the opening concert of the festival), the organ series ‘From Sweelinck to Bach’ and music from some of the musicians who are performing music by Bach during the festival, including the French harpsichordist Pierre Hantaï.
