Cantar Lontano and Stefan Temmingh return to the Festival of Early Music

tue 17 may 2016
Theme: Early Music

Concertzender Live on Thursday 12 May 20.00-22.00 CET features recordings of Cantar Lontano and recorder player Stefan Temmingh from last year’s Festival of Early Music in Utrecht. Both musicians are returning to the festival this year.

The programme for this year’s Festival of Early Music has just been announced. Cantar Lontano and Stefan Temmingh were at the festival last year and will be there again this year. Cantor Lontano with a programme of Italian Baroque music and Stefan Temmingh with music by  Monteverdi and Vivaldi.

During last year’s festival Cantar Lontano with their conductor Marco Mencoboni performed madrigals written by the Italian Alfonso Ferrabosco together with the RossoPorpora Ensemble. Ferrabosco’s refined and reserved madrigals may be less expressive than those written by Marenzio and Luzzaschi, but were just as popular.

The other recording is of a concert by the famous recorder player Stefan Temmingh from South Africa. Temmingh performs with the German soprano Dorothee Mields and together they present a programme of songs by Purcell and other works from the Boughton House collection. This collection was one of the central themes of the festival in 2015.
