In Documento on Thursday 1 July at 19:00 CET you can listen to the final part of our series about Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. 2021 is the 400th anniversary of the death of this important Dutch composer. The title of this final programme: From Sweelinck to Bach.
Sweelinck-organ Nicolaïkerk Utrecht
One of the Hamburg students of Sweelinck, Heinrich Scheidemann, was a passionate promoter of the music of Sweelinck and passed on his musical heritage to Johann Adam Reincken, who in turn had an important influence on Johann Sebastian Bach.
In the programme, the organists Jan Kleinbussink, Leo van Doeselaar and Gustav Leonhardt play works for the organ by Heinrich Scheidemann, Johann Adam Reincken, Johann Sebastian Bach and Sweelinck himself.
