Eventalks by Vox Luminis and William Byrd by Scorpio Collectief

wed 13 jul 2016
Theme: Early Music

In Concertzender Live on Thursday 14th July at 20.00 we return once again to the Early Music Festival 2015. This time to the Eventalks by Vox Luminis and the Scorpio Collectief with William Byrd.

This year too, 2016, during the Early Music Festival from 27th August to 4th September. just as in 2015 Eventalks were held. Every day, at the start of the evening , in the Hertz in TivoliVredenburg a discussion took place accompanied by music. Artist in residence Olga Pashchenko played the music on historic keyboard instruments. These Eventalks were recorded by the Concertzender.

Eventalks
The Eventalk is a secular version of the traditional English evensong. Artist in residence 2015 Vox Luminis provided the daily music accompaniment for the Eventalk with the most beautiful English music from the Renaissance and baroque of Purcell, Tallis and more. Every day they sang one or two works.

We’ve made an Eventalk-concert from all the short performances.

Sackbutts and Cornets
Our other recording is from the concert ‘William Byrd: England and the continent’ by the Scorpio Collectief led by trombonist Simen Van Mechelen. This ensemble presented with tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen (indeed family of) consort music, songs and  madrigals by Byrd, Dowland and continental colleagues such as Vecchi and Lassus.

The unusual ensemble with cornets and trombones is modelled on His Majesty’s Sackbutts and Cornets of James I.
