Final episode of the miniseries The World of Jeroen Bosch

On Monday 6th June in Documento (19.00 ) you can hear the final episode of the miniserie The World of Jeroen Bosch, about the artist Jheronimus Bosch and his time. The final episode is about music at the courts of Philip I and Karel V.

In this series we make the connection between the strange world of Jeroen Bosch and the music associated with it.

He was not only an innovative painter, but also member of the renowned Lieve Vrouwe Broederschap; he painted for Philips II and received commissions from the royal court in Brussels.

Philip I and Karel V
Part 3 is about music at the court of Philip I and Karel V. Philip the Beautiful gave Jeroen Bosch the commission for the painting ‘The Last Judgement’. We will also be playing music by Alexander Agricola, cantor in 1500 at the court of Philip I of Castilië.
We’re also playing music by Juan de Anchieta, chapel master at the court of Johanna, the wife of Philip the Beautiful, and as conclusion  Flemish polyphony, extremely popular at the court of Karel V .
