Marcello and Jeroen Bosch Live

wed 22 feb 2017
Theme: Early Music

In Concertzender Live on Thursday 23 February at 20.00 you can hear two recordings  from 2016 of Early Music concerts: Nederlands Kamerkoor during the Early Music Festival 2016 and Cantamare during the Gregoriaans Festival 2016.

The Venetian baroque composer Benedetto Marcello wrote polyphonic settings of the first 50 psalms on Hebrew melodies, his ‘Estro poetico-armonico’. He was very aware of the close connection between text and music, as is to be found in the Hebrew tradition.

Het Nederlands Kamerkoor,  directed by the British conductor Richard Egarr sings a selection of these psalms and adds music by William Byrd .

In the musical tryptich ‘Het Narrenschip’ the Vocaal Ensemble Cantamare brings the world of Jeroen Bosch to life.
Gregorian as refuge and security take on a new dimension when the Belgian composer Kurt Bikkembergs treats this monody in this specially written for this concert ‘Vox in Rama’ from the feelings and vision of Jeroen Bosch.
