In De Tuin van Oud at 16.00-17.00 : Responsoria for Easter Week by Carlo Gesualdo.
A hundred years before Bach’s Passions, the Italian composer and nobleman Gesualdo composed his less well known but just as gripping passion music: his Responsoria for Easter week.
During this hour you can hear a selection from his music for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday.
The performances are by three different ensembles – one for each day: the King’s Singers, Ensemble Arte Musica and the Hilliard Ensemble.
